Platform one originated from Newport, RI in 1999, brought to life by founding member V. Nigel Taylor. Performances at the 15 Lilies Benefit and A Different Drum Summer Synthpop Tour cemented their place in the New England scene and among the veterans of Synthpop and goth. Platform one went on to perform in festivals such as Blacksun, Darkstar, and the NY Synthpop festival. Through the years Platform one has appeared with such acts as Bella Morte, The Echoing Green and Ottos Daughter.
In 2000 Platform one released Confessions of the Sorrow Tree, which featured, "The Haunting of Your Love" and "A Time Without Decay." Confessions was met with approval by clubs and reviewers. "The Haunting of Your Love" was included on the Chartreuse Translucent compilation by DJ Thaljana. And "A Time Without Deacy" appeared on, Bangs... Sounds of the 80s along with Platform one's cover of Japan's "Methods of Dance."
In 2001 Platform one relocated to New York. As in New England they became a voice in the NY scene, playing regularly at CBGBs Gallery, having made appearances at Korova Milk Bar, Club Metro, and BYTE.
Nigel then decided to put live performance on hold. In the interim he began working with Andy Sawyer of Booomaster! Pictures and New Blood Productions. He has acted as well as produced soundtrack material for the company. His last full-length soundtrack for the movie Ichabod is slated to be released.
After some line up changes the band was reformed with previous member Daniel Gill, and newly added percussionist Allison Lahikainen. Production engineer and guitarist Jesse Dunstan was added in early 2008. Fusing together old school new romantic with gothic and industrial influences Platform one finds itself in position for an exciting future.
The highly anticipated The Other side of December was the newest release in September, 2009 and is now available to the public.
